Cooking Demonstration

Thursday the 27th of March 2003 we had a cooking demonstration in Astwood Bank First School. Ebru Clarke and Mam Wilcox showed how to cook dishes from their home countries, Turkey and Thailand. The prepared ingredients filled the school hall with the most tempting aromas already before the cooking started, so you can imagine how lovely it smelt when they got going with the demonstrations.

Ebru cooked a dish called MEYHANE PILAVI (Bulgar pilaff with chicken and aubergines), and a bean salad, everything smelling lovely, looking lovely and tempting in all ways.

Jane from Seafish Direct kindly donated the prawns for Mam's Thai dishes. Mam cooked one of my favourites, Tom Yam soup, in my view an absolutely gorgeous and very hot and spicy prawn soup. She also cooked fried rice with vegetables, a dish that can be easily varied by adding different ingredients. You can add prawns, chicken, pork or anything you fancy.

Everybody was ever so pleased with thier day and wondered when the next cooking demonstration would be held.

You find the recipes for the dishes here.
